A whisper travels on the breeze, a tale spun from sugary lies and bitter truths. It speaks of a current, its waters glinting with the temptation of intoxication. But within its depths lurks a shadow, a dangerous lure that promises wealth at the cost of souls. On January 15th, 1919, Boston was struck by a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with that thick sweet nectar burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that crashed through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, reaching heights 25 feet in some areas, was catastrophic. Structures succumbed under the weight of the unstoppable goo.
The aftermath was grim. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more were injured. The flood also caused a great deal of destruction to property, leaving a trail of sweet devastation in its wake.
